Flotsam 2004
This international project was created in a collaboration between the youth theatre ‘Stella’ in The Hague and AllAboutUs Film Factory (Anna Spohr) and took place outside of The Hague, outside of the Netherlands and even outside of the borders of the old Europe: Latvia. The goal of this project was to gain a young perspective on what Europe meant to their citizens on a direct personal level. The films that were created were made by young film makers from Latvia and supported by peer-educators from Holland as well as a professional filmmakers who were specifically trained in working with young people. The whole project had an educational character and was dedicated to a vision of the future. The way the film was created for and by young people (age 13 to 22 years) proved to give astonishing and authentic insights into worlds unknown to us. The project was highly innovative on several levels, with regards to the media used, the educational perspective, the international cooperation, the video-art and the peer educator ship. Flotsam Europe 2004 has set up a database of information to be used as a platform for future debates led by young and for young people. The concept of the European Union that remained abstract in the minds of our young creators was eventually translated into the direct, personal experiences with regards to the issues of human rights, freedom of word, liberty, drug policy, welfare, migration, environmental issues etc. These themes were filmed by young filmmakers from Latvia and shown in the Netherlands .

Whuzzup goes Bronx 2001
Whuzzup is a Dutch video collective, led by film maker Anna Spohr. The project provided media access to young people in the South Bronx area in order to explore and question life through film making. The films are sometimes harrowing and sometimes inspiring, the results are brilliant little gems of self-expression.
Whuzzup goes Bronx happened over the summer of 2001 and connected three young filmmakers from Amsterdam to young artists of the South-Bronx. They all created very different and very individual films through interacting with one another (see for more info www.eurogenie.com/whuzzup). The cinematographic description of their personal world was shown at the Green Reel Film Festival in Los Angeles, at the Shadow Festival and at the ‘Breakin’ Walls’ Festival in Amsterdam as well as at several Video Festivals in New York City.
