AllAboutUs gives young people the maximum control over their own, often first-time film. Young people get the opportunity to tell their personal story and to add suspense to it. At AllAboutUs we teach methods to stimulate creativity and to develop a personal film language.
For the XXXS youth editorial staff we gave a workshop about special (video) reports and civil journalism.
AllAboutUs offers master classes to social workers, teachers and youth experts who have a passion for, or an interest in filmmaking and we also offer master classes for filmmakers who have a talent for young people. Because of the great demand for AllAboutUs-films from the different sectors and the widening role of AllAboutUs as a producer of lesson material, we give workshops in order to make filmmaking with young people more widely available, using the principles of equality and other elements from the AllAboutUs method.
Viewing films and having a debate afterwards. (Q&A talks)
In this workshop young people will watch the films that young participants created in the AlllAboutUs XL-projects over the years. In the talks after the films young people are able to vocalize their opinions and thoughts and share this in a constructive environment. The media coach will guide the talk through active participation.
Starting with an idea, writing a funding proposal and booking the end results.
What do you need exactly to create enthusiasm among young people? How do you set up a budget? How and where can you turn for funding? Which skills do you need to have as a coach? Where can you turn for help and what kind of technical equipment do you really need?
Young people are selected for XL-projects through smaller film workshops and commit themselves for three months to participate. This commitment is serious for most young people as the project can be quite demanding and is intensive in itself.
Editing Master Class
Which effects are good to use? How do you captivate the attention and tell a story in a way that everyone stays focussed to the end ? What are the best inserts? How do you use music so it makes sense? And finally, how do you make a YouTube film? With this and more, young people start off controlling what they want to show.
